an 8x10 print of the back cover poem from issue 11, written by Megan Crawford
that first warm day of spring
when you throw open the windows,
let the air in from the cool, damp earth—
when rain hits soil,
weary from winter,
made anew by April’s tears—
when flowers begin to drift on the air,
floating over the wind
(lilac, peony, hyacinth,
alyssum, honeysuckle, rose)
you are there—
in all the earth’s sweetness,
tenderness,
draped in her flowers
and rain.
