an 8x10 print of the inside cover poem from issue 16, written by Megan Crawford
if I could gather up the stars,
I would—
one by one,
a posy spilling between fingers.
I would ask for their thousands of stories,
what they’ve seen that I haven’t,
what they know that I don’t.
speak my secrets back into the dusk,
breath curling on the air,
giving words back to the stars.
if I could gather them up,
I couldn’t keep them.
instead I’m anchored here,
bound to the soil,
awaiting their reply.
