an 8x10 print of the back cover poem from issue 17, written by Megan Crawford
in early spring, when the land breaks
(when we remember the feeling of sunlight
and the scent of green),
may you also remember now.
when you see the first ferns,
remember the first snowflakes.
not to diminish the one,
but to revere both.
their time shifts—
as does ours—
one begest the next
begets the forest begets
the rain begets
the stone begets
the mountain begets
a cloud,
a drop,
a flake.
we are more forest than flesh.
